The role of the Eagle advisor

Troops may create an adult leader position of Eagle advisor, but the role of this position is not recognized or defined by the national scout office.

In Troop 105 (Pembroke), the Eagle advisor's job is to to help Life Scouts get through the paperwork and assist them on their way from Life to Eagle, in much the same way as an Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster.

The Eagle application and Scout handbook are the main sources for the information about Eagle advancement. An additional tool that an Eagle advisor uses is the Life-to-Eagle PowerPoint presentation, which was developed by OCC Advancement Committee. This presentation answers many questions about the Eagle advancement process and related forms. Any questions about the Eagle advancement process that cannot be answered by:

• reading the Scout handbook,
• completing the Eagle applications,
• completing the Eagle project worksheet,
• referring to the Life-to-Eagle presentation, or
• talking with the Eagle advisor

should be directed to the Cranberry Harbors district Eagle board. This board meets during the Cranberry Harbors round table meeting each month and is typically chaired by the district's advancement chairman.
