Pre-Meeting Activities:

Discussed cancellation of August 30th SPL council meeting (replaced with August 19th meeting)

Discussed goals of this meeting (planning September activities)

Jacob S. proposed that it would be good to teach one Eagle required MB per month; this topic tabled for future discussion during planning

David S. mentioned that scouts will be ask to photo copy partially completed rank advancement pages from their handbooks for the advancement folders, so each scouts completed and partial advancement info will be available for program planning purposes

David S. mentioned that the roster and emergency phone tree documents will be updated by the SPL council in September

Agenda:

Review of minutes from August 16th troop committee meeting

Group decided to propose a general re-shuffle of patrols into groups of similar ages and advancement, which will occur at the September 11th meeting

Group decided to propose to the troop that the Bears patrol consolidate into the Pheasants patrol and Dragons patrol; the group also decided to propose that the older scouts become the Venture patrol

David S. will produce a patrol re-shuffle board with each scouts name on a post-it in the proposed patrol; after the reasoning behind the arrangement of patrols is presented, scouts will be given the opportunity to move their names to different patrols if they'd prefer to be in a different patrol

Group decided to have patrol leader elections and do the roster update and emergency call tree update at the September 11th meeting following the patrol re-shuffle

Group spent the rest of the meeting planning the details of the September 11th meeting; Jeff M. took detailed notes (and distributed them by email following the SPL council meeting; Thanks Jeff!)

David S. ended the meeting with the following items:

The SPL council will have to meet again to complete planning for September; probably will need to meet before the patrol leader elections to plan the September 18th (open house) and 25th (pre-campout planning) troop meetings

The SPL council will need to set a date for the Troop Leader Training session after the patrol leader elections

David S. described a troop goal of following the BSA uniform guidelines (not just wearing class A shirts); the group proposed a patrol competition that includes uniform inspection as a component; this is a topic for future discussion
